In this workshop we will introduce participants to the fundamental steps in formulating and solving machine learning problems. Hands-on examples will be used to demonstrate how ML pipelines can be implemented in practice.
We will focus on the following topics:
- Overview of Machine Learning
- Model Evaluation and Selection
- Introduction to Deep Learning
- Deep learning for Computer Vision
- Machine Learning Pipelines
We will use the Python programming language and the Scikit-Learn and Tensorflow libraries for the examples. The concepts should be informative to a broader audience. Participants do not need to install anything in advance, but should bring their laptops to follow along. The workshop will be appropriate for people who have not taken a formal class in ML, and are starting to use ML in their work or are exploring whether there is potential for use of ML in their work. The workshop focuses on a conceptual framework rather than a comprehensive survey of methods and participants will leave knowing where to find the necessary tools for their work.
