Tivon Rice is an Assistant Professor in DXARTS at the University of Washington. His research and artwork explore a number of different materials and media, including sculpture, photography, sound and architectural space, specifically in the context of new technologies. He challenges the physicality of these media through machine learning, 3D animation, VR, drone imaging, and photogrammetry while developing new forms of digital storytelling. Recent collaborations have sought to make machine learning more accessible to wider creative communities with toolkits for natural language processing, computer vision, image captioning, and lifelike text to speech.
