Biography
Dongfang Zhao was a Moore/Sloan Data Science and WRF Innovation in Data Science Postdoctoral Fellow in 2016. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. Dongfang Zhao received his Ph.D. in computer science from Illinois Institute of Technology in 2015, after which he joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and University of Washington for his postdoctoral research. His research interests include big data systems and high-performance computing. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of Springer’s Journal of Big Data. He has authored and co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals (e.g., IEEE TPDS, IEEE PAMI) and leading conferences (e.g., IEEE IPDPS, ACM CCGrid). He previously worked for various government labs and industrial research labs such as Argonne National Laboratory and IBM Research–Almaden. He also holds master’s degrees in computer science (Emory, GA) and statistics (Leuven, Belgium) as well as a bachelor’s degree in computer science (Northeastern, China).
