Shayna Hilburg is an American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Postdoctoral Fellow in Professor Lilo Pozzo’s group in the University of Washington’s Department of Chemical Engineering. Prior to receiving her PhD in Materials Science & Engineering in the Program for Polymers and Soft Matter at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she worked in polymer processing at W.L. Gore and obtained her BS and MS in Materials Science & Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Her current research uses data science-informed studies to advance soft matter systems for biomedical applications. At UW, she investigates lipid nanoparticles for drug delivery using high throughput synthesis and characterization methods, including small angle scattering. At MIT, she also examined macromolecular structures and dynamics at the nanoscale, though did so computationally through molecular dynamics simulations.
