Karthik Venkataramani

Postdoctoral Scholar, Civil and Environmental Engineering

Dr. Karthik Venkataramani is a postdoctoral scholar specializing in the integration of data science, remote sensing, and deep learning techniques. His current research is centered on advancing Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) through the application of deep learning methodologies. Dr. Venkataramani’s expertise lies in the development of machine learning tools and models tailored for geospatial applications. Before his current role, Dr. Venkataramani contributed his expertise as a Research Scientist at ASTRA. Following this, he took on a postdoctoral position at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where he was instrumental in creating machine learning workflows for the Observational Products for End-Users from Remote Sensing Analysis (OPERA) project. This project aims to produce a comprehensive suite of analysis-ready data products derived from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical data on a near-global scale. Dr. Venkataramani completed his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech in 2018.
