Hauke Schulz’s research focuses on cloud formation processes, in particular those in the trade-wind regions. As a fellow of the Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean, and Ecosystem Studies (CICOES) and UW Data Science, he combines observations, machine learning techniques and large-eddy simulations to illuminate the processes leading to cloud organizations in the current climate and addresses the question on how the organization of clouds will change in a future climate. Challenged by the amount of data to be handled, Dr. Schulz is actively participating in the open-source community and collaboratively develops tools to overcome these challenges.
