Tony Cannistra is a PhD student in the department of Biology at the University of Washington, an outdoor enthusiast, and a naturalist. His research aims to use a wide range of heterogeneous data sources coupled with machine learning approaches to predict the responses of biological organisms and whole ecosystems to climate change.
He also works to enhance the quality and resolution of these predictions and to increase the ease of use, transparency, and adaptability of this research to propel scientific discovery in the field.
Tony has a B.S. in Computer Science and Biology from Tufts University in Medford, MA, and is a member of the Big Data IGERT Fellowship program through the eScience Institute at the UW.
