Software Development Engineer
Biography
Landung “Don” Setiawan is a software development engineer for the University of Washington (UW) School of Oceanography. Previously, Don was an environmental data specialist for the Environmental Information Systems Department at the UW Applied Physics Laboratory. He provided software and research support for various projects with Emilio Mayorga and Anthony Arendt.
Don previously worked with the eScience Institute as an affiliate research technician. He is very excited to work with others on data science, providing his expertise in Python programming, web development, geospatial data analytics, data management solutions, data visualization, relational databases, and system administration.
Don received his Bachelor’s Degree in Oceanography from the UW with a focus on geospatial data analysis and management through the development of wave sensor buoys to study the spatial variability of oceanic waves. He was also actively involved with Marine Technology Society, OceanGate Foundation, Benthic Acoustic Mapping and Survey, Ocean Observatory Initiative-Interactive Oceans, and served as the Information Technology Lead for Exploration and Remote Instrumentation by Students.
