Affiliate Assistant Professor, Sociology, Faculty Associate with the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies
Dr. Jon Agnone is a research manager and data scientist in human resource analytics with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, supporting strategic planning and organizational effectiveness, as well as leading the enterprise survey system. Jon received his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Washington in 2010, his dissertation focusing on the impact of union employment on racial wealth disparities. He is currently updating that project with an eye toward publication.
In addition to his eScience affiliation, Jon is an affiliate assistant professor with the University of Washington’s Department of Sociology, faculty associate with the University of Washington’s Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies, and director and co-founder of the Northwest Social Research Group.
Jon has authored multiple published scholarly and policy reports on social movements and economic inequality, has presented to technical and non-technical professional, policy and academic audiences, and has become enamored with the power of Tableau to bring HR data to life for those who don’t torture data for a living.
