A chart illustrating migration patterns of educated workers

Fraction of worldwide migrants (among professionals and students using LinkedIn) who choose the US as their destination, by year, level of education, and general area of study

Using mathematical, statistical and computationally-intensive approaches, Emilio Zagheni has developed methods to combine large social media data with traditional sources to track and understand migrations. For example, he can use these methods to analyze the professional histories of LinkedIn users and demonstrate a recent relative decline in the fraction of professionals worldwide who choose to migrate to the US.
