Biography
Sayamindu Dasgupta’s research goal is to understand how and what young people learn in online large-scale informal learning communities. Learning experiences in these communities are often open-ended and self-directed. In his work, Sayamindu develops measures that can capture the outcomes of these diverse learning experiences and he then uses these measures to study and model the conditions that support positive learning outcomes.
Additionally, Sayamindu has a strong interest in data science education at the K12 level. To investigate new ways in which children can engage and learn with data science, Sayamindu is currently designing a easy-to-use data-focused programming language that can be used by children to analyze data from a variety of sources.
