Research goals
Michael Fire intends to study how social groups formulate, evolve, and dissolve over time. He believes that large-scale spatio-temporal mobile social networks with billions of links can reveal significant insights into how social groups are created and behave.
As part of this project, he plans to develop an open and intuitive infrastructure for performing spatio-temporal analyses of large-scale social networks. This infrastructure can then be used by social science researchers to test and validate various hypotheses formulated over the decades.
