Grace uses galaxy spectra from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey to analyze systematic uncertainties in correlations between galaxy properties in the local universe. She’s also using unsupervised machine learning techniques to better understand interesting relationships between galaxy properties that can constrain our understanding of the physics involved in galaxy evolution.
As an undergrad at the University of Pittsburgh, Telford studied both astrophysics and bioengineering. She worked on research projects spanning many disciplines, including constraining star formation histories of galaxies in the first half of cosmic time, analyzing magnetic phenomena in the outer layers of our Sun, and developing learner-adaptive, simulation-based training systems for medical professionals.
