The UW Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) summer program brings together students, stakeholders, data and domain researchers to work on focused, collaborative projects for societal benefit. The 2022 fellows will present the exciting results of their 10-week data science-focused projects:

  • Exploring New Understandings of the Cost of Living at a Basic Needs Level Using the SelfSufficiency Standard Database
  • Heating Loads in Alaska and Beyond
  • Satellite Streaks in Astronomical Images
  • Tracking Family and Intergenerational Poverty Using Administrative Data

This is a hybrid event. Final presentations will be held in person at 1:00 pm PDT at: Physics and Astronomy Auditorium, Room A118 (map). A reception will be held at 3:00 pm at the University of Washington’s eScience Institute, WRF Data Science Studio, Physics/Astronomy Tower (PAT), 6th Floor, 3910 15th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98195-1570. The Tower is adjacent to the Auditorium building. This event is open to the public.
