Democratizing Data Science: Perspectives from the Community Data Science Workshop and Software Carpentry
Benjamin Mako Hill, Assistant Professor in Communication, will present an approach to democratizing data science through his work developing and implementing the Community Data Science Workshops.
Ariel Rokem, a senior data scientist at eScience, will discuss the approach that Software Carpentry is taking to democratizing data science.
We will discuss the similarities and differences across these approaches to democratizing data science and what the implications are for the future of data science. We will also discuss the challenges and opportunities that accompany these types of intensive workshops.
