The eScience Institute is pleased to announce that we have an outstanding opportunity for a Grants Manager that will independently manage all fiscal components of the eScience Institute.

About you: You enjoy a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You are capable of handling multiple projects with competing deadlines efficiently and effectively and you find it rewarding to manage projects from beginning to end. You are detail oriented and a clear, professional communicator (written and oral). You are an energetic self-starter who is a good team player, but you are also able to work independently and set your own priorities. You can work with all types of people and use good judgment and discretion when interacting with University faculty, staff and students as well as leadership from federal agencies, other universities, non-profits and the private sector. You enjoy the variety of tasks that come with working in a small organization. You have experience with budget management, the University fiscal systems, and the pre- and post-award process for grants and gifts.

About us: The eScience Institute’s mission is to engage researchers across disciplines in advancing the techniques and technologies of data-driven science and research. Our data scientists collaborate with other faculty across campus, at other universities and with organizations such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Socrata. We have several active programs throughout the year including workshops, classes, office hours, and social events. This past summer our Data Science for Social Good program brought together teams of talented student interns to work on data-driven projects that address pressing urban societal issues. In one example, students worked on an app that enabled Google Maps-style routing around the city for people with mobility challenges, avoiding steep hills, stairs or construction.

We are housed in the recently renovated 6th floor of the Physics/Astronomy Tower, with fantastic views in all directions. We have a small, tight-knit staff with permanent desks in our Data Science Studio – an open and dynamic space that is available to the campus community.
